AFGHANISTAN

When the word "Afghanistan" is mentioned. The first things that come to my mind is Osama bin laden and the taliban. Is it the same with you guys? I think it was good that we had a presenter from our class who gave us an insightful information about Afghanistan. It is interesting to know that Afghanistan is bordered by Pakistan in the south, east whereas iran in the west and Turkemistan ,Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the north and China is on the far northeast.Afghnaistan had gone through many riotous tragedies within its country in the past.It faced brutal civil war in the late 1970s due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. During this time, President of United Stated ,Jimmy Carter funded and trained anti-government Mujahidden known as Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) and apparently Osama bin laden was one of the ISI agents. ISI was supportted by the US to fight the Soviet Union. After the fall President Najibullah regime due to the fight he had with the Russian, many elites and intellectual in Afghanistan ran away to take refuge abroad. After that Taliban, politico religous party was rulling most the Afghanistan states from 1994 until 2001. Taliban imposed strict Islamic law and throughtout 7 years of their rulling many Afghans faced restriction on their freedom and human rights. Women were banned from going to work and girls were not allow to go to school. However, this all ended after September 11 because US assumed the attacked on the World Trade Centre was committed by Osama bin Laden and US troops flew to Afghanistant on the quest to capture Mr.Bin Laden. Unfortunately,US failed on their mission but instead help set up new government for Afghanistan and helped Hamid Kazai to become the current president. So, do you guys think the current government is better than Taliban? Well, personally I think current government is doing their best to develop a better Afghanistan especially with the help of the US but I dont like the fact President Hamid Kazai spent most of his lives abroad before returning to Afghanistan and being elected as the current President because I believe the people who should be elected as presidents are those people who stayed in Afghanistan during the Taliban rullings and struggled to fight for their rights. I strongly believe these people would know more what to do with their countries because they have stayed there throughout the toughest times.Anyway, I may have added more information than what has been presented in class just in case you guys are curious to know more . I think overall presentation in class was good but there are always rooms for improvements. I think the Sister who presented did do her researcher about Afghanistan but she was lacking when it comes to answering session .Here's my advice,I think it is good to prediction what questions that our classmates or lecturers would be asking after the presentation, thus we could be answering the questions smoothly without so much hassle. Good luck for the next presenters.
